Fall...comfort foods

It sure feels like fall is just around the corner!
YEAH!

I love the fall!
(I know, I say that about every season, but I really do love the fall the most.)
There are so many wonderful  dishes that we fix at this time of year.

I can't wait for pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
(Do you see a dessert trend here?)   I do have some delicious soups, too.  Maybe I'll have to do them on another post.

This weekend I'm going to try my niece Ally's recipe for homemade Caramel Apple Dip.
It sounds yummy!  I'll share the recipe after I try it.

This is also the season I like to make Apple Dumplings.

You can check out that recipe here.

We also LOVE making homemade Spudnuts (doughnuts).
They are a tradition for our Halloween party.

Click here to see the recipe.

There are some delicious fall comfort foods.
What are your favorite ones?

Peach Days and an 87th birthday party....

Saturday was a great fall day!
It was one of those times when we abandoned our Saturday "To-Do" list (Yeah!) and took off with some of the family to celebrate the 87th birthday of someone we all love.

Along the way we got to appreciate nature's harvest.
We stopped at our favorite fruit stand along highway 89, right across from the Maddox restaurant.
(Brigham City was having its Peach Days, but we didn't go into town- not enough time-darn.)

Don't you just love to see all the colorful produce?

Of course we had to buy some peaches, nectarines, plums, and green beans!

I wish my petunias looked this healthy!

We met up with some of our extended family at the famous Bluebird Restaurant in Logan.

(Riddle:  How many differences can you spot in these two photos?)

(You might not be able to find an 87 year old woman in these pictures-
she's in the middle.  Doesn't she look great?)
Happy Birthday, Mardene!

Old friends gathered together again....

We were invited to join together with some "old" friends on
Labor Day.
Yes, we are all getting OLDER, but our friendship also goes way back to when our children were growing up.  If you do the math- that adds up to many years of friendship.
About half of the group have moved away and we don't get to see them very often, but we've found that good friends can just pick up where they left off.

We were greeted by this lovely table setting at our friends Peggy and Larry's cute house.

Their home was all decked out for fall.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner, catching up on family news, laughing, and even a little banjo music.

When can we do it again?
(Thanks, Peggy and Larry, for organizing and hosting!)

A little work and a big rest from our Labors.....

We all took a rest from our Labors and had a fun weekend.
Some of us went to see this play at the Capitol Theater.
(No, I wasn't one of the some, but, I got to play with 3 very cute kids which I enjoyed!)

We had a lazy picnic at the West Jordan City Park.

We enjoyed spending time with family on Sunday,

and Ken and I are going to party with some old friends tonight.

I LOVE LONG WEEKENDS!

Got milk....?

Not too long ago I made a comment about my dislike of the
"smelly cows" that I grew up with on the farm in Idaho.

Today, I am going to retract that statement.

I NOW LIKE COWS!
At least this little cow!

Check out her wobbly first steps!

Thanks for the cute costume, Michelle!
