On the road...

Labels: Baby Paul had to spend some time "under-the-lights" at the children's hospital so we headed home a little early. (We couldn't stay at the hospital.). We made it to La Grande, Oregon last night.

Welcome to my blog!
Welcome to The Gathering Place! Thanks for dropping by. This is what i would look like if I were in my own 3rd grade class. I love the blogging world and the fun it provides to stay in touch, share ideas, and make new friends. Leave me a message or drop a line on my email . I'd love to hear from you!

About Me

My photo
The Gathering Place
I am married and a mother of six great children, mother-in-law to two fine young men and two terrific daughters-in-law, and grandmother to nine amazing grandchildren. I teach 3rd grade at a local elementary school. I like to garden, cook, decorate, and spend time with my family. I hope our house will be a gathering place for friends and family for many years to come. I hope this blog will help keep our family close to home, no matter where they are.

Marjorie Hinckley

Marjorie Hinckley

Advice I really like:

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gate in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothing, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured finger nails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheek and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived." Marjorie Hinckley

Jane Austen's advice:

"Remember where you are, and do not run on in the wild manner that you are suffered to do at home."
Mrs. Bennet
Pride and Prejudice

Family Quotes (not profound-but memorable)

Family Quotes (not profound-but memorable)
"It's hard to smile when you don't have any clean underwear!"
-H
"This dollar is to the best parernts which are you and you. I love you and you because you and you are the greatest ever!"
-R

"Which is worser? Having a heart attack, or being eaten by lions?" -H
(Note: One grandma was having heart problems; one was on a mission in Africa. In the middle of her prayers, she stopped and asked me that question!)
"In the hall closet on the second to last shelf on the right front those wash cloths are for cleaning and washing the car and in the front middle is for washing dishes and the back wash cloths we do not know what to do yet."
