Early this morning a wonderful woman said goodbye to this earthly existence.
My husband’s sweet mother, Naomi, passed away today at age 93.
She will be missed by many.
I wanted to share a few things that I have learned from her loving guidance and example since I became a part of her family:
1. She was always positive. She would say things like, “Look on the bright side and make the best of things.” And she did.
(Should I have deleted my last negative post?)
2. She was kind. She never said unkind things to anyone and always rooted for the underdog. Everyone felt her friendship.
3. She was brave. As a very young bride she left her small Utah farming community and moved clear across the country to Washington, D.C. She learned to find her way around new places, including being the ONLY couple at the time serving as L.D. S. missionaries in the countries of Ghana and Nigeria, before a regular mission was established.
4. She was the real deal-no matter what. She was just as comfortable serving the poor as she was mingling with important dignitaries and leaders. She treated them all as friends.
5. She was a good mother. She sewed, cooked, and created a loving home for her children. When job transfers moved them to different parts of the country, her children always said that she brought “home” with them.
6. She was fun. Food, laughter, and a little goofing off were part of every gathering. (She loved Scrabble, Double Nines, popcorn, and root beer!)
7. She was a woman of faith. She served faithfully in many church callings and lived the gospel principles in her daily life. She loved the church.
8. She was humble. She was the quiet support behind her public serving husband and her children.
9. She was generous. Many people benefited from her gifts, including a charity she and her husband helped create to get medical supplies to the people they loved in Africa.

10. She loved everyone, especially her family!
(And we all love her!)
We will miss her!

It is hard to see her go, but I am so grateful she is relieved from her earthly pain. We will miss having her around though. She really was an amazing woman.
She was and is an amazing woman! It sounds as though she's left a great legacy behind as she continues her work beyond the veil. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
You were so blessed to marry into a family with such a woman at its heart. What a legacy she has left!
One classy tribute for one classy lady. You will miss her, but it was her time to go and she will be ministering from above.
You did a great job describing how amazing Grandma really was. She was a very special woman and I will miss her a lot.
